Sweet-Salty, Salty-Sweet

It's the time of the month again that I crave for unwanted food! I've been like this ever since, sometimes I ask myself if it's normal. Let me elaborate. So every month, approximately 2 weeks before my period, I crave for salty and sweet food, one after the other. Like today, my lunch was a bit salty, so I bought milk tea to counterbalance the taste. But the milk tea was a tad sweet, especially the pearls, so my taste buds crave for something salty again. On my way home, I went to the nearest store and bought 10 small packs of Sugo peanuts, hot and spicy flavor. I initially coughed and gulped water after the spiciness kicked in, but I finished everything in less than 10 minutes. Then after a few hours, the taste buds are crying for something sweet again. I still have a stock of Monster Bread cookies in my room, so you know what happened. Boo!! And now I'm very full!!! Are you like this too?

I am health conscious. I eat everything in moderation (ahmm, except rice!?!). I make sure to have plenty of fruits and veggies in my everyday diet and I workout at least 5 times a week at the comfort of my room. But during these days, I can't help but fall into temptation, like I don't care if I take in too much sugar and monosodium glutamate. And as a price, my "puson" is bloated, like I am 3 months preggy! So yes, I think it's a vice. I don't smoke, I don't drink, but I occasionally binge junk food, so that makes me an occasional junker--a loyal junker! haha
So here are some of the junks I looove!! (I sound so oink-oink)

I love anything potato (though I try to get rid of French fries). Piknik will always top my list, followed by the local brand, Oishi. Have you noticed, most of the chips here are from Oishi. Then for chocolates, I love anything plain, so I have here Cadbury Dairy Milk, Villars, 3 Muskeeters and M&M's. I know it's weird, but I love it when my throat starts to feel funny, like I am going to acquire a pharyngitis (pero di naman natutuloy). Sometimes, if I'm on a budget, I opt for the local brand, Goya. hehehe..Oh, and for the spicy flavor, I always go for Vcut and Sugo hot and spicy.
I also have this habit of eating same food for consecutive days, sometimes weeks. I remember when I had my orientation at a hospital in Binondo, I ate lots of hopia and siopao for 2 weeks! Then some years ago, I ate Pizza Hut Hawaiian + Fruitas combo (mango banana) for consecutive weeks that my students noticed and even commented on. (bakit daw yun ang lagi kong kinakain..bakit ba?!!)haha..Then now, I am hooked with Turk's shawarma. I go straight to the food court whenever I go to S.M malls.

Well at least, this is healthier. :)
But the top grosser shall be awarded to.....

and
I only eat cereals for breakfast. I feel contaminated (geez, what a word!) whenever I ingest something oily. Yah know, the usual brekky--rice, fried egg, hot dogs etc. Special K red berries is my favorite, but I only get to eat this when Bryan sends a package. Or when someone goes home from the U.S. :)

P.S: I will be on a strict diet starting tomorrow. I'm just experimenting if it will work, so expect healthy posts soon. hihi

  1. I'm just glad I managed to curb the cravings for those food. My taste buds are evolving, I think hahaha! I crave for more natural foods now. I also love potatoes, but the ones I get to cook like boiled potatoes dipped in just a tad of caesar's salad dressing. Yum! Just got to be easy on the dressing :-)

    1. Right after my menses, I crave for healthy foods. Then 2 weeks before, my taste buds look for these unhealthy junk! But I know it's just a mind set. I'll try my best to stay out of these, and choose healthier snacks, like your boiled potatoes! :)

  2. Same here, sometimes I crave for junk foods too. But ever since we had a son, we try to avoid those as much as possible because we fear that our son might love them too. hehe.

  3. I do enjoy eating junk foods specially the spicy one. I have a sweet tooth, that's why I appreciate chocolates than salty one. We used to have a large serving of potatoes during our diet days.

  6. You're a cereal addict, aren;t you? lol Me too but I prefer binging on Kellog's corn flakes. I snack it by itself and I'm craving the honey-flavored. Yummy.
