DIY: How to make a mullet skirt from an old skirt

Hi guys! How have you been? It was an exhausting first week of school for me, I ended up knocked out on bed today. The only time I dragged my butt out of bed was when I ate and went to church.

I had a closet overhaul last week and saw this printed skirt. I bought this satin-like skirt the last time I went thrifting 2 years ago!! Ohmy!!  Got this for only  Php75!  Its condition is very good, although I only got to wear it once because it's a bit granny and the length is unflattering on me. I don't want to give it away yet, so I decided to repair it. So yes, you could guess from the blog's title what I did with this skirt. I am doing a mullet/fishtail skirt from an old skirt.

Please bear with me. I am poor in giving directions, but I'll do my best. :)

1.) Place the skirt on a flat surface.

2.) Locate the center and measure it to your desired length and mark it. In my case, I used pins for marking.

3.) Fold it in half and spread it fully.

4.) From the hem in front, fold it (upward) like a triangle up to the marked length (refer to #2). Sorry, the folded part is not obvious in the photo.

5.) Cut it. I just freely cut it, no marks, thus the uneven hem as you noticed. But it's okay, don't worry. Then sew the hem. You could use your hand or let the sewing machine do the work for you.

And tadah!!! You now have a stylish mullet skirt.

Here's the before and after photos. side note: I used to go to Piknik.com before to make collages, but since the site closed, I am having technical problems. I don't very much like the grainy effect on these photos. boo! Anyway, I hope I delivered. :)

    1. If you fold it from the hem upward,it will look like a triangle. Refer to photo #5. You will see the cut triangle.
